Everyday, young girls are bought and sold.
Type:
All Original Productions
Synopsis:
It is little known in the West that hundreds of thousands of children and young women a year are kidnapped, duped or sold to be abused as sex slaves around the world. HUMAN TRAFFICKING throws light on this international scourge by showing how the flesh-peddlers work, what misery they cause their victims and families and how law enforcement struggles to contain them.

Mira Sorvino, who won an Academy Award for her performance in Mighty Aphrodite, plays an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent who toils to free the captive girls.

Donald Sutherland, who won an Emmy Award for his performance in Citizen X, plays her commanding officer.

Robert Carlyle (winner of two BAFTA Awards) takes on the role of the evil underworld boss and Rémy Girard (a four-time Genie Award winner) plays the father of a kidnapped Russian girl who searches across two continents to find her.

Isabelle Blais (a Jutra Award winner for Montréal-Québec) plays a young mother and sex slave whose life comes to a tragic end.

'This story highlights the problem of human trafficking and presents a compelling drama that will hopefully make people aware that this is an international plague that recognizes no borders,' says Director Christian Duguay.

Michael Prupas (This is Wonderland) and Irene Litinsky (The Wool Cap) of Muse Entertainment are the producers along with Christian Duguay who is also the director of photography. The screenwriters are Carol Doyle (Veronica Guerin) and Agatha Dominik (The Sum of All Men). The production designer is Guy Lalande (Nuremberg) and Mariane Carter (Gleason) is the costume designer.

The miniseries was shot in Montreal, Prague and Bangkok in 2005.
