When Chicago journalist Ned Giles finds himself at a career impasse, he heads to California hoping to join the 1932 Great Apache Expedition through Northwestern Mexico as a photographer. The purpose of the expedition is to search for the young son of a wealthy Mexican landowner, Geraldo, who was kidnapped by wild Apaches. But things become complicated when Ned unexpectedly finds a wild Apache girl clinging to life in the wilderness.
